Services
Hawk Feather Ranch is a small, family-friendly ranch offering boarding, lessons, horse training, farrier services, and equine rescue and rehabilitation. The environment is easygoing, where people come to simply enjoy horses.
HFR is on 27 acres in the middle of horse country between Douglasville and Carrollton. We have a full sized riding arena, a main barn with 22 stalls, and smaller shed row style stalls with access to pastures.
Boarding
Self Care Board
- Board includes a stall, pasture turn out with other horses, space for tack and feed, use of riding arenas, wash stalls, and trailer parking.
- Owner feeds, waters, and mucks stall and pasture daily.
- The owner provides their own feed, hay, and is responsible for the health and well-being of their horse, including arranging farrier services and vet care. Farrier on site.
Lessons
Required attire (provided by rider):

- Helmet designed specifically for horseback riding.
- Shoes or boots with a hard sole, hard toe, and 1-1.5 inch heel
- Long pants
Parents of minor children must remain on-site with their child
Weight limit 220 pounds, no exceptions.
Private Lessons
Riding lessons- About 45 minutes are devoted to active instruction in the saddle and 15 minutes is reserved for pre and post-riding care.
- Lessons can be taught in English or Western saddle.
- Ages 6 and up.
- Weight limit 220 pounds, no exceptions.
Horsemanship Lessons
Ground lessons for horse ownership- Students learn proper horse care that leads to horse ownership
- Topics include types of feed and how much to feed, basic first aid for horses, breeds and colors, anatomy, hoof care, equine maladies, parts of tack and tack care, and more.
Important Lesson Information:
- All lessons focus on the horse-and-rider relationship, communication, and safety.
- Lessons can be tailored to each rider’s goals and preferred discipline (dressage, barrels, hunter-jumper, western pleasure, & eventing).
- Riders do not need to commit to a particular number of lessons. Come for just one lesson, or return as many times as you want.
